Newsstand sales were commercially strong in 2025. Magazines in particular developed positively: the value of newsstand sales grew by 2.6 percent while unit volumes remained at the previous year’s level. Combined newsstand sales of magazines and newspapers rose to nearly EUR 100 million.

The average newsstand price of a magazine issue was EUR 5.50, which is 18 cents more than a year earlier. By category, the strongest growth was seen in puzzle magazines as well as in health, beauty and fitness magazines, with sales in both up by as much as 14 percent. Positive development was also seen in women’s magazines (+3%) and automotive magazines (+2%).

Newspapers’ newsstand sales remained at a reasonable level despite a 5 percent decline in euro terms. In the Books category, comic-book albums had an excellent year: retail sales (at consumer prices) increased by 11 percent and volumes by 2 percent. In addition to magazines and other reading products, collectibles and trend items also performed particularly well (+25%).

Puzzle magazines maintained their position as the best-selling category. Sales in the category were boosted by numerous new titles, such as Pop-Ristikot, which became a phenomenon and ranked among the best-selling newsstand issues already in its first year of publication.

Topical special editions focusing on various themes and seasons and available only via newsstand sales added breadth and variety to the selection on magazine shelves. They responded to consumers’ changing needs and interests.

Overall, the position of print magazines remains strong. Consumers regard print as a reliable and safe source of information, and the undisturbed, focus-supporting reading experience it offers complements digital media.
